Friday Ratings: CBS Owns the Evening

At this point, I’m not sure if there is anything CBS could do wrong on Friday nights. Even when things were down (a.k.a. The Ex List days), the network was still on top. Now a repeat is surpassing the Eye’s originals.
8pm
- Ghost Whisperer (11.05, 2.8/9 in 18-49) had the night’s best demos.
- Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (6.4 million, 1.6/5) raised its grade by 1.8 million.
- Deal or No Deal (5.5 million, 1.1/4) scored a 1/2 million more.
- Wife Swap (4.6 million, 1.7/6) picked up a million.
- Everybody Hates Chris (1.7 million, 0.7/2) added on 400,000; The Game (1.7 million, 0.8/2) drew in 500,000 more.

MONDAY (11/10)
- Chuck (NBC, 8pm): “Chuck chances upon his ex-flame (Jordana Brewster) and embellishes his status in life to impress her.” We’re talking about a girl who starred in D.E.B.S.. He shouldn’t try too hard.
- Prison Break (FOX, 9pm): “Gretchen gives Michael the rest of the bird book, but he suffers another seizure after deciphering it.” That pretty much sums up my feelings about bird books as well.
- Samantha Who? (ABC, 9:30): “Sam is sentenced to community service, where she meets a troubled young woman (Mary-Kate Olsen) and decides to help turn her life around.” Sam has now become the better-looking version of Earl Hickey.
- 17 Kids and Counting (TLC, 10pm): “Jinger takes her driving test; the family celebrates Michelle’s birthday and responds to viewer questions.” Uhh, I have a question. Jinger? Seriously?

Wednesday Ratings: Viewers Suffering from Post-Election Crash
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America’s Next Top Model, Dancing With The Stars, House, Ratings,
Voters tired of political ads - and television in general - took a rest from the boob tube last night. This meant lower numbers for most programs and a disappointing season debut for Law & Order. (The show had its worst Wednesday ever.) Thanks to a rare mid-week airing of DWTS, ABC was tops with the viewers yesterday. Meanwhile, the Alphabet network was also tied with FOX in the demos.
8pm
- Dancing with the Stars (15.6 million, 3.2/9 in 18-49) was the most-watched program last night.
- Bones (3.2/9) returned to 10.1 million.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (6.6 million, 1.9/5) fell by 1 million; Gary Unmarried (6.4 million, 2.1/6) retained most of its lead-in.
- Knight Rider (5.1 million, 1.6/4) made many question why it was given a full season order.
- America’s Next Top Model (3.9 million, 2.0/6) did the same as last week.

America’s Next Top Model 11: The Final Five
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, The CW, America’s Next Top Model,
After weeks of lessons, runway shows and photo shoots, we finally got to “see” what the ladies of America’s Next Top Model were made of tonight. Followers of the show know what that means: it was time for the Final 5 to go on their go-sees.
Before heading out on their journeys, the models met with Frederick Koster, the managing director of Touché Models. After explaining the evaluation process - the girls would be judged on their portfolios, their walks, their appearance and their personalities - Koster gave the women maps and directions. The goal was to meet as many designers in the allotted 4 hours as possible. If they did not make it back to the agency on time, they would automatically be disqualified.

Friday Ratings: CBS Better Off without Ex List
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Games, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America’s Next Top Model, Everybody Hates Chris, Ratings,
Although most shows saw lower numbers on Halloween night, CBS didn’t spook viewers away. In fact, the network - which dumped The Ex List last week - did even better thanks to a repeat of NCIS. Meanwhile, Lipstick Jungle‘s performance on NBC Friday looked downright scary. The program was down 35% from its last Wednesday outing.
8pm
- Ghost Whisperer (9.4 million, 2.2/8 in 18-49) was off by 600,000.
- Deal or No Deal (5 million, 0.9/4) gave away a million.
- Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (4.6 million, 10/4) lost 1.1 million.
- Wife Swap (3.6 million, 1.1/4) fell by 600,000.
- Everybody Hates Chris (1.3 million, 0.5/2) and The Game (1.2 million, 0.6/2) both sliced off 500,000.

- Inside the Actors Studio (Bravo, 8pm): Season 15 premiere. “A conversation with Oscar-winning actress Goldie Hawn, who retraces her career journey and discusses her books, her tattoo and her mother’s death.” James Lipton will also retrace the moments when Hawn’s career started dying a slow death.
- Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008 (NBC, 9pm): “A ready-for-prime-time political skewering, featuring new material and a collection of politically-themed clips from the show’s archive.” This could be your last chance to laugh before you cry.
- First Class All the Way (Bravo, 9pm): Series premiere. “Sara whips up a high-end getaway to Paris and Monaco for a clique of privileged women, but there’s a bump in the road when a passport goes missing.” I just hate to see a privileged woman miss out on a trip.
- The Hills (MTV, 10pm): “Audrina moves out.” Haven’t we seen this episode already? Oh wait - we just saw it unfold in Us Weekly.

Wednesday Ratings: Daisies Gets a Little Push from Obama
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Games, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, Sports, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America’s Next Top Model, Ratings,
Although Barack Obama was the most watched person over the five major networks (a combined 26.3 million watched him on CBS, FOX and NBC), Game 5 of the World Series was the most-watched event on one network last night. And while it still lagged behind the political infomercial, Pushing Daisies did get a nice bump from bored voters.
8pm
- Approximately 9.8 million watched Barack Obama on NBC (3.0/8 in 18-49).
- CBS (2.3/6) took in 8.6 million for the political spot.
- FOX had 7.9 million (2.8/8) watching the infomercial on its network.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (7.6 million, 2.2/6) lost 400,000.
- Pushing Daisies (6.8 million, 2.2/6) rose by 1.1 million.
- America’s Next Top Model (3.9 million, 2.0/6) was off by 500,000.

America’s Next Top Model 11: Planes, Trains and Slow Automobiles
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, America’s Next Top Model,
I was starting to feel like this day would never come. The day when only six remained on America’s Next Top Model 11. (Does anyone even remember the name of the show’s first transgendered contestant??) Just as a reminder, the girls chosen to represent America in Amsterdam were Analeigh, Elina, Marjorie, McKey, Samantha and Sheena. Did anyone manage to embarrass us on their first day there? Read on!

Despite being sandwiched in between Friday night’s best shows, CBS’ The Ex List continues to slide in the ratings. Nevertheless, the network still manages to dominate the week-end numbers.

- Deal or No Deal (1.4/5) registered 6 million.
- Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (5.7 million, 1.2/4) tested another 600,000.
